China ranks 5th in having 648 families worth US$100 million

Ming Pao quotes china.com.cn as saying, according to Boston Consulting Group’s global wealth report, China now ranks the 5th in the world in having 648 super rich families worth more than US$100 million each, 100 more than last year; while it ranks the 3rd In having 1,432,000 rich families worth US$1 million or more. The US ranks the 1st in both numbers, having 5.13 million millionaires while Japan ranks the 2nd with 1.58 million millionaires.

The report expects the number of rich families will keep on increasing mainly due to the IPO of many companies and the emergence of a new generation of entrepreneurs.
