China’s Longbow Version Z-19 Attack Helicopter Installed with MMW RadarPosted: May 3, 2016
China’s new Z-19 light attack helicopter takes only one year to develop and has now a “Longbow” version installed with MMW radar to greatly improve its function to detect and track targets.
As Z-19 is lighter than Z-10 and thus has less fire power, its best role is to supplement Z-10 in detecting and tracking enemy targets and transmit the data to Z-10 for Z-10 to destroy the targets though it can also use its own anti-tank and air-to-ground missiles. Installed will MMW radar similar to US Apache Longbow’s, a Z-19 may perform its reconnaissance role better in supplementing Z-10 in a ground battle.
China’s official military forum mil.huanqiu.com published 28 photos of Z-19. Only one of them is posted here. All the 28 photos can be viewed at http://mil.huanqiu.com/photo_china/2016-04/2828368.html#p=1
