In an interview with people.com.cn, military expert Xu Yongling says that he believes that Y-20 large transporter aircraft has been delivered to Chinese military. According to Xu, China will not commission more than 100 Y-20s.

As Y-20 is but a second-generation transporter, China will soon begin development of a multifunction third-generation transporter with better loading capabilities, longer range, less operation cost, better theater adaptability and information security. As it takes only 3 years from first test flight to commissioning, Xu believes that China will be able to develop a third-generation transporter in 5 to 10 years.
