China’s Official Media Advocates War if US Sends Warship to Taiwan

Reuters says in its report today titled “China upset about ‘negative’ Taiwan content in U.S. defense bill”, “China said on Monday it had lodged a stern complaint with the United States after the U.S. House of Representatives passed its version of a big annual defense bill that would expand exchanges with self-ruled Taiwan.”

The defense bill Reuters refers to in its report is the United States’ National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which also proposes expanding training and exercises with Taiwan including what Reuters fails to mention in its report: NDAA provides that US warships may berth in Taiwan ports.

Global Times, a newspaper under Chinese Communist Party’s official mouthpiece People’s Daily is more bellicose in its editorial on that. It regards such move of US warships as US support for Taiwan independence that China can never allow.

Therefore, Global Times says that China shall announce that the US shall not cross that bottom line. If a US warship stays at a Taiwan port, China shall conduct military attack at the military facilities in that port. If Taiwan dares to conduct counterattack, PLA shall attack the Taiwan military that conducts the counterattack. If the US warship participates in Taiwan’s counterattack, China shall sink the warship.

The editorial says that China is making great efforts for its peaceful rise but shall be brave to fight. Only in that way can China’s economic and military strength be powerful deterrence to “Taiwan independence” forces inside and outside Taiwan.

Is that editorial mere bluffing? Global times is often used by Chinese authorities to show its stance that they do not want to uphold openly. China first of all wants win-win cooperation with the US but is also clear of the conflicts between the two powers. The most serious conflict is US support for Taiwan. China and the US are able to maintain good ties as the US has made clear that it opposes Taiwan independence.

However, a US warship in a Taiwan port even a short visit indicates US support for Taiwan independence.

Chinese people remember well the humiliation they suffer in nearly a century in the past when China was bullied by foreign powers. One of the worst humiliations was its loss to Japan in its first war with Japan resulting in its ceding of Taiwan to Japan.

It recovered Taiwan due to the victory of World War II. Will Chinese people allow China to be humiliated in losing Taiwan again? If Chinese Communist Party dare not fight, they will overthrow it.

If Beijing really considers China a superpower or a major regional power, it must demonstrate two things : One, it has the right and authority to inspect and impound any any ships transporting arms to Taiwan. (Transporting by air however, represents a different problem). Two, it has the right to prevent any American warships to berth in Taiwanese port. In fact, that should just be the start of a blockade of Taiwan, as a prelude to sending the troops in to remove the independent Tsai administration.

By right, Beijing and China would not have to tolerate the humiliation caused by Washington if it knows how to do a regime change of the Tsai government ala Ukraine. Why it does not do that really boggles the mind.

Whats the point of impounding, inspecting and blockading Taiwan, its inherently part of China. Might as well use military unification. Your proposal will only strengthen the self ruled province legitimacy which the Taiwanese are not entitled. China will be a laughing stock in foreign diplomacy.

What are you talking about? Blockade is no longer foreign diplomacy. It’s military action. Don’t you read before making comments?

Have U considered the implications of a naval blockade within the region of ECS, SCS and China’s international status.? China owns Taiwan, what is there to blockade. Do u know the difference between a blockade and a Blockhead.?

U are an expert on regime change.? U shoot before before talk.? Ur idea of China’s strategy in dealing with other nation is to impose a naval blockade first with military arms then talk.? With a naval blockade, u are confused without a ‘no fly zone’.? Impose Naval blockade while cargo planes delivering arms fly over the warship.? The purpose of having foreign diplomacy/relations/policy is to safeguard national interest within its international relations milieu, so that its strategic interest can be employed with other countries.

Do U know the difference between a blockade and a blockhead.?

Listen you dickhead, China doesn’t own Taiwan but it claims it does. If so, has Washington any business selling Taiwan arms? Or send its warships to berth in Taipei or Kaoshiung?

If you say that is your house but Washington couldn’t care less but parks its dumptruck in front of your house and sell your “tenants” drugs, what are you gong to do about it? Recommend being a coward and do nothing?

You speak for yourself and not Beijing. Your sense of logic is also warped, blockhead.

A dickhead with a warped sense of logic. Making stupid presumptions all over the place.

Beijing says Taiwan belongs to China, like Doklam plateau belongs to China. So if U.S. parks its warships on Chinese territory against Beijing’s wishes, it’s ok?

You’re a coward or what? Don’t ask Beijing to be one also. As long as Washington doesn’t send its warships to Taiwan without Beijing’s permission, nothing will happen. Or is that too abstract for you to grasp, cowhead?

Dumbass. Beijing doesn’t own Taiwan even though it insist it does. Saying so doesn’t makes it so. And if it wants ownership, it will have to do more than that. If Washington realize that Beijing is dead serious, then perhaps it may stand down and not send its warships to Taiwan nor sell arms to Taiwan. Until that Washington does otherwise, war is only hypothetical. You obviously know nothing of the game of brinksmanship both Washington and Beijing are playing. It is probably abstract for your puny brain. This, together with your rudeness, uncouth behaviour, illogic, and misassumptions says you are am uneducated peasant and a psychopath. Were you born like that or did you grew into it *sshole?

No one is humiliating China now. The American is behaving in tantrum to provoke China. But China is behaving majestically as a great nation it was. The American is trying hard to provoke China, by intimidations, military exercises and now Taiwan. Anything that would provoke China. But China has bigger things to take care, such as OBOR and how to advance its economy further. If China wants to whack America and its cronies, it should do it from within, like the American often do it. It is less glorious but it is cheaper, tidier and has greater rated of success.

The Scoundrels are hoping for concessions on trade and Nth Korea issue from China. Problem is Taiwan can’t afford a war with China, neither can Taiwanese pay for US protection. US has being on the prowl in the SCS and ECS, planning for a strategy in case of a future war with China. China has the geographical advantages laid out against any military offensive and wise not to be drawn into an unnecessary conflict against the US. The scoundrels are clearly stirring up trouble proposing military exercises and berthing of warships in Taiwan.

Isn’t it odd that the American chooses this time to provoke China? Especially after the India-Japan-America naval exercise that really ‘provoked’ China. The American is out of money. Even the launching of USS John Finn is a celebration to them. Who knows when can they afford to launch a new ship next time. The American needs war badly, one that they are paid. If war comes to be, China has to make sure that America pays it dearly.

Agree, I commented the same thing months ago that China should built a ‘Cannonball C Rammer’ with a mega steel ball at the front of its hull and ram the scoundrels. Anything that interferes China’s bottomline within the 9 dash line should be met by forceful ramming not missiles nor bullets. Allow the scoundrels (Japs & US) to fire the first shot and then sink the pirates. China should avoid firing the first shot unless unavoidable.

China’s PLAN conducted major military drills as it did last year in SCS. China has warned all nations including the US, of armed combat bomber patrols in the SCS and ECS. It’s Cat and mouse strategy. When Cat is away, Mouse comes out to play.

If American warship visit Taiwan port China should sink that warship regardless if it participated in any counter attack.
In fact any proposal by America to support Taiwan militarily should be countered by China operating naval blockade and up the ante by supporting North Korea military.

GT is absolutely right. For once.

If Beijing does not draw the line, it will be regarded as a paper tiger – all words and noise but no action; It’s credibility will be severely eroded, and no one will respect China any more. Not only that, it will embolden other power crazy and greedy countries like “village thug” delhi to further encroach onto Chinese territories. Beijing will be China’s own worst enemy if it continues to be “afraid”o do what it ought responsibly to do and not what it irresponsibly wishes not to do.

Mainland Chinese people are tough people and are not afraid of war but if the Beijing leadership is unlike the pioneering Mao Tse-Tung’s team and shows no spine like the previous “utterly corrupt” Chiang Kai-Shek KMT administration not to mention the useless female led Qing ruler in the final days of chaotic foreign invasion and colonization period, Beijing current rulers will have a difficult time justifying to these mainland Chinese why they should continue to rule. If like the corrupt decadent Sung leaders who in their convoluted reasoning refused to use their power bequeathed to them to protect the Chinese people against the invading Mongols and to destroy the Mongols, they do not have the right to rule China post haste. Chinese generals should had taken over and prevented that terrible but totally avoidable Chinese calamity.

Amerika continues to be run by the hostile neocons and the oligarchs in power; Not that dumb incompetent Mr Trump; And threatens China. War is coming if it is not already here whether Beijing likes it or not. Beijing should indeed stiffen their spines and their spears ready. Economics is not everything; Neither is democracy. After everyone had their say, you have to make the final decision Mr Xi. Show your leadership. No respect is ever won by cowardly appeasement.
