Media Articles after Articles to Mobilize People’s Trade War with the US

SCMP’s report “Expect ‘deep structural change’ in ties between China and US, senior adviser says” today with the subtitle “State media commentary calling for ‘strategic confidence’ to deal with trade war pressure a clear sign Beijing expects fight to intensify, according to analysts” tells us Beijing’s determination to fight its trade war to the bitter end, but fail to indicate that CCP mouthpiece People’s Daily’s commentaries after commentaries and articles after articles aim at national mobilization of people to fight a people’s trade war with the US.

You could precisely found such commentaries and articles for mass mobilization at the beginning of Korean War, in which lots of civilians kept watching US warplanes’ destruction of the roads on hills at very cold nights to send signal to trucks to hide in caverns when US aircrafts came and lots of civilians on duty at night in caverns came out to repair road destructed and remove time bombs and obstacles dropped by US air force. CCP’s people’s war ensured the supplies for Chinese troops long away in the front to defeat much better equipped US troops.

Why did the most advanced and riches nation in the world was defeated by very poor and backward China? China had popular support that the US lacked.

Will the US repeat its failure due to sad lack of popular support? Let’s wait and see.

All analysis about economies etc. are irrelevant. As Mencius teaches us, popular support is the key factor in a war.

The big question is “Are the Chinese people up for a long and bitter trade war?”

The Chinese Communist Party has a tacit agreement – described as a “social contract” by the Asian Century Institute – with the Chinese people that essentially offers economic benefits, progress, and opportunities in exchange for the public’s political cooperation.

A better life is promised to the Chinese people if they work hard and accept sacrifice.

But there are signs that this tacit better life agreement may be eroding. After decades of growth, the Chinese economy is beginning to lose steam and is facing simultaneous, severe headwinds. Exports and manufacturing are slowing, state debt in both the private and public sector is ballooning, foreign reserves are shrinking, and the yuan is losing value.

The key word is ‘debt is growing’

Xi seems powerless to gain control of the Chinese economy. He has cut back on his public appearances and seems to have gone into hiding. Yet at the same time Xi has implemented a severe police state type crackdown using the latest technological tools like social monitoring and AI to control dissent.

Is this the proper way to respond?

There is no such a contract.

Even if there is a contract there are obligations for both parties in a contract. The country shall serve the people while the people shall fight to defend their country. A trade war is also a war. It needs people to fight bravely. Such bravery is common among Chinese people, but not seen in the US where conscription fails so that US troops are but mercenary earning a living in joining the troops.

China’s conscription is compulsory as people have the obligations to defend their country.

The CCP has done a lot to bring prosperity to the nation so that Chinese people are full of patriotism. Most of them will not be subdued even in great hardship. That was proved by their resistance against Japan for 8 years in spite of great sufferings.

Your comment shows your ignarance about China. That is natural as Western media, politicians, analysts and China watchers are all so ignorant. Their absurd description of Chinese troops’ bravery in Korean War. There praise of China’s Cultural Revolution. Are those not enough?

You lack the common sense about contract and the relations between government and people thta a secondary school student must have.
Focus on you study, boy. Do not boast your ignorance by commenting.

Cease or Not to Cease Trump’s tariff terrorism against China is entirely up to the White house. Wait and see what happens in September. If anyone chickens out, it won’t be China. Trump has truck loads of opposition against the imposition of 25% tariffs on Chinese $200 billion goods. If he does, he will be Trump Dumb Dump at the polls. The pressure is on him. Just recently, multi company directors meeting at the White house opposed Trump’s 25% tariffs on Chinese goods.
Americans are consumers, China are the Producers allowing Americans enjoy cheap high quality goods. Americans should not bite the hand that fed them.

  3. Yes, i believe this trade war started by Trump will be a watershade for Chinese self reliance in everything. 1999, the year that the Chinese embassy in Belgrade was bombed, proved to be a watershade year for the Chinese military. Before thatmost Chinese were naive as to the goodness of the USA, but after that bombing, China speeded up its military improvements as never before. Similarly, this Trade war will make China much more serious about weaning itself out of the Hegemon influence in its economy in the years ahead. The US has woken up all Chinese and picked its own poison!
